Bruce Black is an American sound and acoustic engineer. He is best known for his work as a sound re-recording mixer, acoustical engineer, and lecturer on audio acoustics. In 2022, he designed a Dolby Atmos studio for Paul Massey.
Career
[edit]Bruce Black began his career working with Deane Jensen of Jensen Transformers in live and theatrical sound, broadcasting, live recording, hardware design and sales.[1][2][3]
Black started working both freelance and on staff for companies like Skywalker Sound, DreamWorks, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, as a post-production sound engineer in film and television.[4][5]
In 2022, Black designed a personal Dolby Atmos mix room for Oscar-winning re-recording mixer Paul Massey.[6][7][8]

[edit]His written works have appeared in journals and magazines, including Mix, Recording, The Editors Guild Magazine and Cinema Audio Society Quarterly.[1][3][9]
Black is a lecturer, often appearing at Audio Engineering Society (AES) conventions.[10][9][7]
